Young Africans Development Action
Young Africans Development Action (YADA) is a non-profit organization operating in Somalia and Kenya. Established in 2005, YADA focuses on human rights, education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), livelihood, relief, and development initiatives, targeting youth, women, and forcibly displaced individuals. With a grassroots approach, YADA emphasizes capacity building and uses a participatory development model to empower local communities. The organization also advocates for the needs and interests of its target communities on the international stage, working closely with UN and international agencies to deliver effective services.
Enhancing access to clean water, promoting sustainable management, and encouraging better hygiene and sanitation practices through various initiatives such as drilling wells and involving women in management.
Improving food security, self-reliance, and income generation through programs like irrigation scheme rehabilitation, agro-pastoral support, and gender-based initiatives in credit and loans.
Providing educational and skill-building opportunities to empower youth and women, including establishing vocational training centers and offering customized internships and mentoring programs.
Offering primary health care services, promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, and reducing social stigmatization of those affected through counseling centers and networks.
Raising community awareness about social issues, promoting policies for positive development, and educating youth and women on governance, human rights, and democracy.
Supporting formal and non-formal education, empowering youth and women, and providing capacity building and training, including classroom rehabilitation and mentoring programs.
Since 2005, YADA has been at the heart of community transformation — empowering youth, uplifting women, and building resilience in Somalia and Kenya. Our impact speaks for itself.
